Darn Computers Anyhow!

Well, if you noticed my blog is back up and running again.  In good news, I didn’t lose the entire year’s worth of post, only those after April 1st.  I guess I’m the fool for not backing up better.

I do have all the images/photos, so after I am done riding a tractor for 10+ hours a day, I will try and repost the missing blogs.

Upcoming events are current, and I do have a box of new goodies that is just shouting for me to open and come play with them.

Magnabilities drawing prize

This weekend I am attending a huge crop as a vendor.  Not as a CTMH vendor, but with Magnabilities.  If you haven’t heard of Magnabilities, I’m not surprised.  It’s a young company, and has only been in the direct sales business for only 18 months.  pendents

As you can see they are not only beautiful, but also speak to my practical side as the jewels in the center are interchangeable.  Most of base units start around $20 and include an insert, then additional inserts are only $5 ($10 for the premium ones.)  So for a small investment you can have many, many looks.

Magnabilities also has a great program for creating your own custom insert, and I did a few.  What do you think?

queenmag042012 queenofthecropThe first one is what I donate to the hostess of this weekend’s crop.  She selects a Queen for the day for each of  the three days, and this will be in their goodie bag.  If nothing else, they have a great reminder of their reign, and a strong magnet for home.  The last one is for a small crop that I am attending in May at a Bed and Breakfast called the Scrap Palace.  Who lives in palaces? Queens.  You can also use your own photos.  I just love the versatility of these.

So, now that I’ve explained Magnabilities, I’ll show you the prize I created this week.  For anyone that purchases or places an order, I will put their name in a drawing to win this. . .

In my continuing quest to use up older paper packs and not just store, move, and ignore them,  I grabbed an old Mayberry pack, a couple of punches, some glue dots, floral wire, glitz and peppermint patty candies.  Originally I was going to make some flowers with the candies and give them away, but decided instead to have a prize AND decorate my display for spring.  (Spring that hasn’t arrived in northern Michigan yet as it was snowing just this afternoon, yuck.)

The chocolate ribbon really helps disguise the candies.  I might have to tell the winner what it is she has!

Crafting Weekend Project

Here’s the photo of one of our crafting weekend projects. It’s an adhesive Tape Gun (ATG)  holder.  The funny thing is that after I had decorated my own (the red ATG with ladybugs),  it took using it about 3x before I was completely lost without it.  If you own an ATG, it’s a must have.  Wow.  I’m truly surprised with how much easier it is to use the adhesive gun with it standing up in the holder.

To color the base, I used about 30 drops of re-inker with 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol to make a stain for mine.  The holder on the left used a brown walnut stain and the pink one on the right used acrylic paint.  The painted ones needed to dry overnight, but the stained ones could have paper applied and sealed with liquid glass right away.   I recommend using non paper flowers as they will hold up better.  The vertical part of the holder can be removed from the base for travel.

The purple gun in the above photo is a bit smaller and needed a custom vertical peice.  Thankfully the owner of the purple gun is the wife of the gentleman that cut these all out for me, so it wasn’t a problem!
So, do you think I should do a give away for one of the extra’s I have.  I’ll have to decorate a few of them so the winner would have a choice of colors. . .  Let me know what you think.

Happy Crafting.

Great Crafting Retreat

Cedarville gangHere’s the group of us that enjoyed a wonderful crafting retreat in Wiloughby Lodge.   From early twenty’s to pushing 70, all ages had fun.  (All ages also had sore laughter muscles as we did a LOT of that this weekend.)

Here’s a glimpse of our lighter side.   I’ll have more photos of our projects soon!

Lovin’ the embossing folders

Well,  I should be working on the next scrapbooking workshop, but after I finished Timberline, I decided to play with the newly arrived Embossing folders.    I have to say, I am loving them!

I don’t know about you, but I have a few (hundred) old paper packs laying around that have been opened and most of the papers used, but still too much left to allow me to discard them.  So, I grabbed one,  and decided I was going to use as much of the paper that was in it that I could.

embeddedembossings1I grabbed a couple punches, (I didn’t want to get my cricut out as my craft table is still half covered with other projects, and I know that would never happen at your house!)  my ebosser and the new embossing folders.  I also snagged my card stock scraps bag and went to town.   I started by simply punching some flowers and vines and layered them on the card bases.  I was just playing, so I dry fit several cards then glued down my designs and ran them through the ebosser.  After they were embossed, I added the sentiment and some of my dry embossed flowers.  ( how to dry emboss )

Would love to see your project if this inspires you!

Hopefully you can see more of the details  🙂   Also, I used up EVERY last piece of paper from my Dotty for You paper.   How cool is that?!
